About Sulu

Raised in a Hindu family in Mumbai, but educated in an Anglican school, Sulu spent her formative years straddling the cultures of India and Britain. She moved to the US at the age of 18 to study electrical engineering at Cornell University and, following a stint working in the high tech industry in Silicon Valley, received her MBA from Harvard Business School. She then moved to London, where she both started a family and worked, respectively, as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company, a VP in a multi-billion dollar telecoms start-up and a Partner in a private equity firm. After living in Europe for 16 years, Sulu moved to Westport, Connecticut eleven years ago with her husband and two teenage children. She founded Sulu Collection in 2006 to pursue her passion for design and women's fashion, designing extraordinary handcrafted clothing from India which can comfortably and elegantly meld into a distinctive western wardrobe. Her Sulu Collection kurtis (tunics) are sold at select high-end boutiques in North America and beyond, including Palm Beach, Nantucket, Dallas, Boston, The Hamptons, Phuket and St. Barth. Sulu launched her online business in June 2012.
